After-school open studio will be back on Monday, September 9, from 3:30-5:30PM.  Drop ins are welcome but you should be able to also book in advance on the site tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing students and this weekend I'm hunting for fun things to use in mixed media and other projects this fall.

Yesterday, Rumble Art Studio had a table at our second year attending the Oregon Home Education Network Resource Fair at Oaks Park. We busted out the gel plates and paint for all on our table, and had a great time meeting lots of wonderful families and their students. This photo is towards the end of the event, gel plate activity attracted a lot of people and I'm kind of amazed at how clean and organized looking we were able to keep it looking at this point!

I also teach on Thursday mornings at Village Home Education Resource Center in Beaverton and was happy to see some of my students and their families from Village at this event. So far we haven't done services particularly for home school students at Rumble, but I want to change that and get some workshops and classes going for that student population. If you know anyone who home schools in the area, please let them know we're here.

Rice Rock Museum was at the event again this year and I scooped up a handful of free child passes with adult ticket purchase. They'll be on the store counter at the studio, feel free to pick a couple or few up to use and share. If you haven't ever been, this is a great day trip to a fascinating little cabinet museum full of beautiful things, off Hwy 26 in Hillsboro. Warning, contains gift shop with great fossils and minerals for sale.

Our booth space was right next to my favorite thing, the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

This year, they brought samples of seal and otter fur, the woman running the booth gave interesting presentations on how these animals are different.  That green thing in the middle of the table is a fantastic, life-sized, crocheted green sea anemone someone made and donated. New in the aquarium is a dedicated jellyfish gallery with new viewing tanks and an expanded environment for their octopus.
